About PixRust

PixRust is a collection of free image tools that runs entirely in your own browser. Your file never leaves your device — no server, no account, and no subscription required.

Why PixRust?

Most online image tools require you to upload your file to an external server. That raises questions: who can see my photos? How long are they stored? What if they are private pictures, identity documents, or confidential business materials?

PixRust is different. All processing — cropping, resizing, compressing, rotating, converting — takes place in your own browser, on your own device. The server that receives your images simply does not exist, because we do not have one for that purpose.

The result: you are the only one who ever sees your images. Not us, not our servers, nobody.

How does it work technically?

The tools are built with modern web technologies: the Canvas API for direct pixel manipulation, WebAssembly for compute-intensive operations such as compression and format conversion, and JavaScript libraries that run entirely in the browser.

When you select an image, the browser reads it into memory. The tool then processes the image locally. The result is offered as a download directly from browser memory. As soon as you close the tab, everything is gone.

For heavy operations like batch resize or GIF creation, it may take a moment — your device is doing the work that a server would otherwise do. Modern browsers handle this very well; most operations complete within a second.

What can you do with PixRust?

PixRust offers more than 30 tools for everything around images:

  • Crop and resize — Set exact dimensions or crop freely.
  • Compress — Reduce file size without noticeable quality loss.
  • Convert — From HEIC to JPG, PNG to WebP, or any other format.
  • Rotate and flip — Straighten crooked photos or mirror images.
  • Edit — Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, filters and effects.
  • Text and watermarks — Add text or a logo to images.
  • Make GIFs — Combine multiple images into an animated GIF.
  • Remove EXIF data — Strip location and camera info from your photos.

All tools are completely free, with no limit on file size or number of operations.

Who is PixRust for?

PixRust is built for everyone who occasionally needs to do something with an image — without wanting to take out a subscription for a tool they use once a month.

Photographers use it to quickly compress photos before sending them. Web developers use it to convert images to modern formats like WebP or AVIF. Marketers use it to add a watermark to promotional materials. Private users use it to convert HEIC photos from their iPhone to JPG so others can open them.

For students it is handy to resize images for presentations. For freelancers to quickly prepare logos and product photos without graphic software.

Our approach

PixRust is built by web developers with years of experience in browser-based multimedia applications. We deliberately chose an architecture without a server — not as a marketing story, but because it is simply the right solution for privacy-sensitive material like personal photos.

We use only proven web technologies: the Canvas API for pixel manipulation, WebAssembly for heavy compression algorithms, and actively maintained open source libraries. Each of these choices was made based on reliability and compatibility with all common browsers.

We test every tool extensively across different browsers and devices. User feedback directly influences our priorities — reports and suggestions sent to info@pixrust.com are always read and acted on.

Ads and privacy

PixRust is free and subscription-free. To keep the site running we show ads via Google AdSense. Ads are only loaded if you give permission through the cookie banner.

Ads have no access to your images. The ad scripts run completely separately from the image processing. Your file never leaves your device, regardless of your ad settings.

More details about what we measure and which external scripts we load can be found on the privacy page.
