Frequently asked questions
Is quality preserved?
Yes, when shrinking the quality stays sharp. When enlarging significantly the image may become a bit blurry — that is a physical limitation of any resizer.
Which file formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP are recognised. The result is saved in the same format as the input file, so you get no unwanted format conversion.
Can I set a custom aspect ratio?
Yes. Tick "free size" to set width and height independently. By default the ratio is kept so the image does not distort.
What is the difference between pixels and percentages?
Pixels gives an exact final size — useful when you know a fixed target, like 800 wide for a website. Percentages scale relatively: 50% makes the image exactly half as large, regardless of the original dimensions.
Is there a maximum file size I can load?
There is no hard limit; the browser processes everything in memory. For large images (above 20 megapixels) it may take a moment, but nothing is uploaded.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your own browser. Your image never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free, without watermark or account. The site is paid for by ads.

Why in the browser?
PixRust runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and WebAssembly. Your image is never sent to a server — all processing happens locally on your device. This means your photos remain private by design, whether they are personal snapshots or confidential documents. There is no account required, no file size limit, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
